Small Town, Big Secrets, Possible Aliens

Curtin’s Theatre Arts are proud to present its 2026 STAGE ONE production UnEARTHLY by award-winning WA playwright Gita Bezard.

UnEARTHLY is a darkly compelling story of truth, belief, and the supernatural in a small town where everyone knows your business. In this tight-knit village strange things have begun to happen. Young people wander out on moonlit walks and return transformed—haunted, breathless, and claiming they’ve seen something not-of-this-world. No-one believes them until the town’s golden boy, Jacob Jones, returns with the same wild look in his eyes. As the community falls under his spell and throws itself into a mysterious new project, paranoia deepens, loyalties fracture and love blossoms amongst the chaos.
The play is directed by renowned WA director, and Curtin alumni, Adam Mitchell.

Now in its 14th year, STAGE ONE is an initiative by Curtin’s Theatre Arts that offers a Western Australian playwright the opportunity to write and premiere a new play and provide our undergraduate acting and technical students with the experience of working with a playwright, director and designer on the development and production of a new work in The Blue Room Theatre.
